A WATER QUALITY PILOT PROGRAM DELIVERED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MEAT & LIVESTOCK AUSTRALIA
We are moving into assessment and delivery of pilot projects. You can follow the pilot project here as we explore how participation in water quality markets can support land condition, productivity and additional farm income.
DROVER Land Management has partnered with Meat & Livestock Australia to explore how participation in water quality credit schemes can deliver productivity and land condition benefits on-farm.
The ENVOMARK Reef Credit Scheme and now the new Australasian Catchment Water Improvement Standard (ACWIS) provide grazing enterprises across Australia with financial incentives for the adoption of land management practices that improve land condition and reduce sediment flow into sensitive waterways.
Under the Grazing Land Management (GLM) method, graziers may be eligible to generate water quality credits through practical activities that improve ground cover and landscape function, including grazing management practices, fencing, water infrastructure and land remediation works. In some cases, water quality projects may be stacked with soil carbon to diversify the income stream and maximise returns.
This pilot aims to establish a real-world evidence base for the productivity benefits associated with participation in credit schemes, helping landholders make informed decisions based on measurable outcomes.
This program is designed to deliver immediate insights and long-term opportunity, giving landholders access to valuable data and expertise on environmental credit schemes.
Co-benefits are often talked about but rarely measured. This project aims to provide real-world, measured evidence of productivity gains associated with participation in credit schemes.
Water quality credit schemes are new to many. This project will demonstrate what water quality opportunities look like on different properties and in different catchments across Australia.
The project will use data-driven insights to isolate the impact of land management decisions from climatic variability to inform actions that improve land condition.
Recently approved by the Clean Energy Regulator, the stacking of soil carbon and water quality projects will be trialled under real-world conditions.
Insights from this project will contribute to education and development of practical pathways for Australian grazing systems.
Expressions of interest for the pilot has now closed. Assessment and selection is now underway with selected projects to be announced in due course.
In the meantime, keep up to date with project news and announcements below.
While expressions of interest for the MLA pilot have closed, DROVER Land Management continues to assess commercial water quality and carbon opportunities for landholders. Fill in the form below or reach out for a no-obligation discussion.
